Powder Bath
Assessing the Project
Whenever I entered this bathroom I felt as if I was traveling back in time and I was actually in my grandparent’s powder bathroom. Since we knew that the first renovation that was to take place was the flooring, once that was accomplished throughout the main level of our home, we started to tackle the projects closest to the entrance and this powder bathroom is part of it.
Water Valve Change
The water valves were original to the house. Since that was installed 26 years ago, the valves were completely corroded. We had no other choice than to change them for newer ones and took the opportunity to also update the supply lines.
Changing the Floor
We decided to allow this bathroom only to have the same flooring as the rest of the main level instead of tile. The reason for it is that the bathroom is too close to the entrance and we wanted more cohesiveness and no transitions. Keep in mind that when we moved there was a mixture of laminate, vinyl and carpet throughout the main level.
Final Result
This project was intended to be done over a weekend, but it actually took us a week to complete. It is beyond what Jim and I had envisioned, we are very pleased with the end result.
